The spring 2007 issue of Gothic, the magazine produced by the New Jersey City University Division of University Advancement, received the first place award in the category of public relations magazines in the annual competition of the Garden State Journalists Association.
The award was presented at the Association’s 61st annual “Memorial Journalism Awards Dinner” held at The Chart House in Weehawken on May 21.
Awards were presented to Ellen Wayman-Gordon, director of public information, editor of the winning issue; Kelly Resch, then assistant director of public information, associate editor, and Pat Martinez, then assistant director of public information, managing editor.
The 36-page issue featured a cover story on NJCU’s innovative Education Leadership Program.
Entries in the annual competition were judged by a panel of journalists and public relations professionals.
This marks the 12th time that Gothic has garnered this award as the first- or second-place winner.
