Graduates of the Department of Early Childhood Education become capable teachers who believe in the transformative power of an outstanding education. We prepare distinguished educators who work with children from birth through eight years of age in a variety of child-development and school settings.

Our experienced faculty members have expertise in a range of specialties, from urban to international education, from assessment of teaching to integrating arts and sciences curricula. They are passionate about the critical role of education in building a better society and are committed to cultivating the next generation of educators.

We offer students a foundation in childhood development theory with an emphasis on applying it in the classroom. Whether you are looking to become an educator, or are a current educator who wants to enhance your skills, our robust undergraduate and graduate programs will support your success.
