Biography
Professor Leiningen has had a diversified nursing career that has spanned over 25 years and has covered a variety of locations, such as Mexico, Hawaii, NYC, California, Maryland and New Jersey. With a background in Emergency Medicine and a love for Community Nursing, she is able to incorporate her vast life experiences, extensive nurse/patient experiences and a well-rounded education gained both in the United States and abroad into her everyday teaching approach at NJCU.
She has also been the Advanced Practice Nurse in a school-based program in South Jersey, and has provided primary care services for patients in several area community health centers and emergency departments. Working as a nurse practitioner, Cheryl has worked very hard to create and implement a mobile outreach program that serves marginalized populations throughout Monmouth County, N.J.
