The Office of Specialized Services (OSS) provides NJCU students with disabilities equal access to college programs.  The OSS serves as a resource for students with mobility, vision, hearing, learning, and other disabilities that require campus accommodations.

The Office of Specialized Services is available to assist students achieve their academic goals by providing the following services:

  • Ensuring the provision of services for students with disabilities and fulfilling the obligations as described in the Section 504 initiatives to provide fair and equal access to University program and activities
  • Providing reasonable accommodations for qualified students and applicants
  • Maintaining an accessible environment so that students with disabilities may achieve their educational objectives.

The OSS assists students, on an individual basis, in securing reasonable accommodations, including, but not limited to alternate testing arrangements, adaptive technology, and assistance in arranging other support services (e.g., sign language interpreters, books on tape, and note-taking support) supported by documentation.

It is the student's responsibility to self-identify and request services.  Students requesting academic adjustments are required to submit appropriate and recent documentation of their disability.  Students wishing to obtain accommodations may do so by contacting the OSS Director.  Reasonable accommodations are then determined after consultation between the student and the Director. The Office of Specialized Services maintains confidentiality for all students and their services.

tudents with Learning Disabilities must contact Project Mentor at (201) 200-2091.
