The Center for Instructional and Technological Innovation provides assistance, training, and support for the improvement of instruction at NJCU. One way we assist faculty with instruction on campus is through our Walk In Services. Faculty can stop by the CITI lab anytime to obtain help from our lab assistants, work on a course, or checkout CITI equipment. All CITI services are free to faculty for instructional purposes. Below are descriptions of some of the services available in our lab.

CD Burning

CD-ROMs are a low cost way to save and distribute documents, multimedia, and other files. In the CITI lab all of our computers are equipped with CD Burners that can be used to save material to CD. If you need to burn a few CDs stop by our lab for assistance.

Digital Cameras

There are many benefits to using a digital camera. Digital Cameras make it possible to review your photographs instantaneously and quickly transfer images to your computer. This can be very helpful for instructors who want to use their images in an online course or a PowerPoint presentation. CITI has 4 digital cameras and accessories available for NJCU faculty to check out. Call CITI (200-4071) to reserve a digital camera.

Digital Video Cameras

There are many benefits to using a digital video camera. Digital Video Cameras make it possible to capture video that can be placed on a website, CD or DVD. This can be done using 2 workstations Mac and PC. This can be very helpful for instructors who want to use their video for traditional as well as online courses. CITI has 2 digital video cameras and accessories available for NJCU faculty to check out. Call CITI (200-4071) for more details.

Equipment

The CITI lab has computers (both PC and MAC), flatbed scanners, color printers, CD - ROM duplicators, and digital cameras for faculty to use. Faculty may drop in at anytime to use the equipment or call in advance to reserve or check out equipment.

Lab Assistants

The CITI drop-in lab has several student employees to assist faculty. These lab assistants have different areas of expertice such as graphic design or computer programing. You may need assistance scanning, using software, or building a course. Our lab assistants are available to help. Feel free to come work in our lab or call for assistance over the phone. . Call 200-4071 or stop by our lab to get assistance.

Optical Character recognition

CITI is equipped with a program called OmniPage, which allows text on scanned pages to be recognized and loaded directly into a word processing format.

We are happy to offer phone support for any questions about technology used for instruction as well as any questions about The Center for Instructional and Technological Innovation.

Scanning

The Center for Instructional and Technological Innovation has qualified lab assistants that are available to help you with your scanning projects. They can help you understand resolution, file formats, and photo manipulation. If you would like to set up a time to use a scanner or to meet with a lab assistant please call (200-4071) or stop by the CITI (Professional Studies Building Rm P117).

Scanning Photographs

CITI has 3 flatbed scanners that are available for NJCU Faculty and Staff to use on any instructional work.

Scanning Slides or Negatives

CITI has multiple scanners that are capable of scanning slides or negatives. As a teaching Faculty member at NJCU you are welcome to use any of the scanners to scan any slides/negatives that you would like to have converted to digital format. Stop by the CITI (Professional Studies Building Rm P117) for more details.
