The Festival is a collaborative project of the Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium and New Jersey Institute of Technology. Each year three independent jurors review entries by young people age 6 to 26 who reside or attend school in New Jersey and prizes are awarded at several levels.

The Festival's mission is to provide New Jersey's young video and film artists the opportunity to have their works exposed to and evaluated by professional representatives of the media arts. Jurors look for originality of concept and treatment. First Prizes are awarded $125; Second Prize winners receive $100; Third Prize honorees receive $75; Special Award designations and Honorable Mentions receive $50 each; and Director's Citation(s) receive $25.

22nd Annual Festival (1996)

This year's jurors were Neal Cavallo (Co-founder of LaDiDa Arts Forum), David Fain (independent animator and faculty, University of the Arts -- Philadelphia), and Lisa Kruczek (independent film and video producer).

Public exhibition of prize winning works is part of the Festival's mission. Following the Premiere at NJIT (May 14, 3 pm) the Festival traveled to Sayreville H.S. (May 17, 1 pm -- a special in-school presentation ), the Edison National Historic Site (May 18, 2 pm), Millburn Moviemakers (Monday, May 20, 8 pm), and, Projected Images of Hudson County (Tuesday, May 28, 8 pm).
