  • A Message from the Director of Public Safety

    New Jersey City University is committed to providing a safe campus environment for its students, faculty and staff. The University's Department of Public Safety provides protective services to the University Community 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    No community is immune to crime, regardless of its location. Universities are no different. The level of enrollment, geographic size, location and other factors affects the amount of incidents on any campus. New Jersey City University is among the safest urban university in the country. Our campus is located in a metropolitan area that includes museums, historic sites, local schools and residential homes. Many of our faculty, staff and students reside in the area of the University.

    The Department of Public Safety and its personnel are responsible for ensuring that our campus remains as safe as possible; the primary responsibility for crime prevention and personal safety rests with each individual. Each of us must take personal responsibility for our own safety, as well as for the safety of those around us.
