The purpose of the Masters of Science with a Specialization in Nursing Education is to prepare students to meet the need for advanced practice nursing preparation in the role of the nurse educator through knowledge acquisition and the assimilation of evidenced-based applications of educational theory and practices founded upon the synthesis of the principles of nursing program development and evaluation. Following completion of this graduate program, the student will have the ability to assume advanced practice leadership roles in a variety of professional nursing educational venues inclusive of academic settings and healthcare practice arenas. This Graduate Program of Study is comprised of a total of 37 credits, offered on a part-time plan of study to meet personal and professional needs and goals. In addition to the Masters of Science Degree with a Specialization in Nursing Education, a post masters plan of study, comprised of 15 credits, is offered to students currently holding a MA/MS in Nursing, seeking to acquire educational mastery of subject knowledge congruent with contemporary nursing educational practices. Completion of this post masters plan of study will result in a Post Masters Certificate of Nursing Education.
