Will there be general studies classes?
We encourage general studies courses to be completed at neighboring community colleges, like Brookdale, then transferring or beginning a graduate degree program in specific majors.
Will there be summer classes?
NJCU at Fort Monmouth will offer summer courses to aid degree completion.
Will there be continuing education/non-credit courses available to take even during the summer?
Yes! NJCU will offer non-credit courses tailored to area demand. As soon as non-credit course schedule is available we will post these online.
Will internships be offered to students at Fort Monmouth?
Yes! Our office of Academic Planning and Career Placement works with students to place them in internships. They can be contacted at: https://www.njcu.edu/about/academic-career-planning-placement
Will there be a library/designated study space?
Yes. Students will have access to our library, electronic services, and there will be study spaces.
Will students be able to rent housing off campus?
Yes, students can always rent housing off campus. Residential Life does not track off campus housing placements. We do not recommend or endorse any particular off campus properties.
Will student activities be offered at NJCU at Fort Monmouth?
Yes, we will provide opportunities for both participation and leadership. Through our Office of Campus Life, NJCU at Fort Monmouth will offer a variety of student activities designed to make the college experience fun and meaningful through rewarding participation in the life of campus and our greater community. We challenge and encourage all students to become involved.
What weekend activities will be available?
Weekend activities will include student-life programming, and opportunities for students to interact with members of the community.
Will there be computer labs with printers?
Within the academic building, there will be computer labs with printers.
Will there be Wi-Fi on campus?
There will be wireless connections via Wi-Fi available within all of the buildings for students, faculty and staff. Guests who need Wi-Fi access will be permitted to get guest access to utilize the wireless network.
Will the campus be open to the community?
Non-credit courses, special activities and events will be open to the public. Students, faculty, and staff will swipe their ID card upon entry to the building, as is the case at our School of Business.
What impact do you think NJCU will have on the neighborhood?
Colleges and universities can be very valuable contributors to the community in which it resides and to a city's economy, and they have the ability to attract new and/or expanded revenue from outside the area. It is not uncommon to also see new residents choosing to live where they work or want to live near a university, to take advantage of the resources universities offer.
Will there be jobs for residents of Monmouth County and surrounding counties? How can we hear about them?

Will tuition increase for Jersey City students due to the new campus opening?
No. Tuition will not increase due to our expansion in the state.
What safety measures will be in place for the academic building?
Your safety and security at the University are of vital concern. Every member of the New Jersey City University community has a stake in providing a safe environment for teaching and learning. University Public Safety Officers are available twenty-four hours a day to respond to any emergency or request for public safety services. Officers conduct pro-active loss preventative patrols throughout the campus in vehicles and on foot. Officers patrol all parking areas.
What is the disaster preparedness in the event of a hurricane or a storm?
When potentially dangerous conditions develop or are predicted (e.g., either two inches of snow, freezing rain, etc.) the University Weather Watch group will begin to monitor weather conditions. All members of the group are expected to monitor weather reports and to be ready to offer consultation advice to the group leader. When inclement weather conditions occur at night the Shift Commander of the Public Safety Department will, in consultation with the Department of Facilities and Construction Management, begin to assess campus conditions. The Public Safety Department will also determine, if possible, the status of other educational institutions, as well as primary, secondary and tertiary road conditions. The decision to cancel classes and/or to delay opening is based on a number of factors, including the time and nature of the storm, road conditions and conditions on campus. The decision and announcement will be made as early as practical.
