The NJCU Bachelor of Science in Accounting offers excellent career opportunities. Accounting graduates enter the workforce with an understanding of financial statement reporting and analysis, managerial accounting, taxation, government accounting, auditing, business law, and Excel applications. Students also are exposed to multiple business disciplines in the core curriculum of their degree, which includes managerial finance, business strategy, management, and marketing. Accountants have the opportunity to work in many areas, including audits, corporate record keeping, taxation, budgets, financial planning and analysis, and advising companies as they create new products d services. 

An accounting degree from NJCU also prepares students for graduate studies in accounting, finance, management, and marketing. Combined with the graduate program in accounting, students fulfill the course requirements for taking the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination.

The world is becoming increasingly data driven. As Andrew McAfee, a prominent MIT researcher on the impact of digital technologies on the world, said, “The world is a big data problem.” Business decisions are ever more reliant on big data and analytics than even a decade back. Students work with businesses on how to creatively solve real-world problems, apply business models to their solutions, and then assess the feasibility of their start up idea. It’s an exciting world and students will learn firsthand how to be prepared to handle start-up, small business and global business problems.

The B.S. in Marketing degree program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for success in professional endeavors and advanced academic study. The curriculum allows students to build deep competency by offering the opportunity to select one of three areas of specialization: Marketing Analytics, Digital Marketing, and Integrated Marketing Communications & Public Relations. 

Marketing courses complement the university classes students take in the natural and social sciences, arts and media, humanities, and quantitative and computer literacy. The result: a graduate who is both well-rounded educationally and job ready.

Seamless Transition from OCC to NJCU

Nursing students will have an easy transfer to NJCU. The requirements are as follows: 

  • Completion of the OCC Nursing program
  • Present the following prior to taking the first clinical course within the R.N. to B.S.N. program at NJCU:
    • A current license as a registered nurse in New Jersey1. Up-to-date medical and immunization records,  all requirements as noted in Castle Branch  on-line repository, current background check with Adam Safeguard
    • Proof of personal malpractice insurance (upon receipt of license)
    • Proof of passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
