BROWSER REQUIREMENTS:

Windows Users:

You can access GothicNet using Mozilla Firefox (version 3 or higher) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 7.0 or higher). Your browser must have 128-bit security encryption enabled. The portal may also be viewed through other browsers such as Opera and Google Chrome, but not all features may be functional.

Download the most current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Microsoft Internet Explorer   (Download The Most Current Version)
Download Mozilla Browser for MAC Mozilla Firefox (Download The Most Current Version)

MAC Users:

Due to the manner in which various browsers handle secure connections over the Internet, you may encounter difficulty when trying to access GothicNet, depending upon the version of Opera, Camino, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and other browsers that you may be using. If you encounter any difficulties when connecting to the portal, we recommend that you download and use the SAFARI  (from Apple) or Mozilla Firefox browsers. These browsers appear to be two of the most reliable and preferred choices.

HELP WITH ENABLING COOKIES:

 How To Enable Cookies?

The GothicNet application requires cookies to be enabled.  Please enable cookies, and retry this application.

A Cookie is used by this application to maintain a "session" with you, and is deleted when the browser is closed. No personal information is stored in cookies unless explicitly approved by you.

Enabling cookies involves an adjustment to your browser settings. Follow these directions to enable cookies on the browsers listed below, depending upon your computer operating system (ie. PC USERS or MAC USERS):



Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0:

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Privacy tab, and in Setting section click the Advanced button.
3. Under "Cookies" click (to select) "Override automatic cookie handling."
4. Check to accept "First-party Cookies" as well as to accept "Third-party Cookies."
5. Then, check to "Always allow session cookies"; next, click the 'OK' button.
6. Click the 'OK' button on the Internet Options window.
7. Close all Explorer windows, than restart Internet Explorer.

Macintosh/Power PC systems using Internet Explorer 3 or 4:

1. On the Edit menu, select Preferences.
2. Under Receiving Files, click Cookies.
3. Under When Receiving Cookies, select Never Ask.
4. Click OK.

HELP WITH ENABLING JAVASCRIPT:

 How to Enable Javascript?

The GothicNet web site uses JavaScript and therefore requires JavaScript to be enabled in your browser. The following describes how to enable JavaScript for the Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. Other browsers should feature similar options.


Internet Explorer 7.x
  1. Select the "Internet Options..." menu item in the "Tools" menu.
  2. Click on the "Security" tab at the top of the Internet Options window that pops up.
  3. From the list of zones at the top of the Security options select the internet icon.
  4. Select the button near the bottom that reads "Custom Level".
  5. In the new window that pops up, scroll down to the item that reads "Active
  6. Scripting".
  7. Select the option marked "Enable".
  8. Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the Security Settings window.
  9. Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the Internet Options window.

CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE :

 How to clear your browser's cache* ?
  (* Temporary Internet Files)

Follow the steps listed below for Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9 or 10:


  1. Open up Internet Explorer (v. 7, 8, 9 or 10).
  2. Click on Tools on the menu bar and then select Internet Options.

  3. Under the General tab, click on the Delete button.

    Under the General tab, click on Delete

  4. In the next screen that will open after clicking on the Delete button, check off only the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies, and then click on the Delete button.

  5. Then, click OK to the previous Internet Options window to finalize the changes.
  6. You should now close and re-open Internet Explorer.
  7. Test logging into http://gothicnet.njcu.edu/.
  8. If you are still having problems, click here for additional help with signing in.


Follow the steps listed below for Internet Explorer 7:

  1. Open up Internet Explorer (v. 7).
  2. Click on Tools on the menu bar and then select Delete Browsing History. Next, you'll see the following screen.

  3. See "Temporary Internet Files" and click on the Delete Files button.
  4. In the next window that appears, click on the Yes button. (see below).

  5. It may take a few moments. When done, this smaller window will disappear.
  6. Next, click the CLOSE button (in the lower right corner of the window).
  7. You're all done.
