Biology major Rafael Garces was accepted to the Undergraduate Research Program in Molecular and Quantitative & Computational Biology at Princeton University for summer 2010. In this selective program, students complete an original research project as part of a world-class research group.

Biology major Agata Kaczkowski worked for the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey as part of a summer 2010 internship funded by a US Department of Agriculture grant. You can follow her work via her blog here. (She's holding a rescued osprey in the pic on the right.) 

Biology major Ammar Rizvi was selected to participate in a winter internship with the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Ammar is a fulltime NJCU student and currently interns for three New Jersey Podiatric Physicians. 


2009 Biology graduate Luis Alzate-Duque is currently a first year medical student at UMDNJ's New Jersey Medical School persuing an MD/MPH degree.

2010 Biology graduate Kathrine Bendtsen is currently pursuing a master's degree in bioethics at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

2010 Biology/Chemistry graduate Jennifer Della Vecchia is preparing to take the MCATs and would like to pursue a dual MD/PhD degree in Biochemistry and Infectious Diseases. Upon completion, she hopes to continue research, practice medicine, and also teach science.

2009 Biology graduate Patricio Fuentes is currently in second semester of his Physician Assistant education at Hofstra University. Patricio was also the recipient of the National Health Service Corps scholarship.

2010 Biology graduate Richard Garcia is featured in a June 7 article in the Jersey Journal. The article describes Richard's plans to audition for a role as Tupac Shakur in an upcoming movie. Richard also works as a substitute in Jersey City public schools and hopes to get a master’s and continue teaching.

2009 Biology graduate Mariana Gebraeel is currently pursuing a degree in pharmacy atLong Island University

2010 Biology graduate Kimberli Leal is currently pursuing a degree in dentistry at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

2010 Biology graduate Ahmed Mahmoud secured a research position at Columbia University studying the early biomarkers of cancer. He also plans to pursue a master's degree in biotechnology at Columbia.

2009 Biology graduate Maria Sacta is currently pursuing an MD/PhD at the Weill Cornell/Rockefeller/Sloan Kettering Tri-Institutional program in New York City. This highly competitive program trains physician-scientists who will become the next generation of leaders in biomedical research.

2009 Biology graduate Maria Elena Somoza is pursuing a master's degree in biotechnology at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
