The Department of Information Technology has launched a new authentication program to protect the GothicNet credentials of NJCU faculty and staff, as well as University data. Use of the DUO 2FA System is required for all NJCU Faculty/Staff members. The program is provided by DUO Security and requires users to provide an additional layer of validation, also known as two-factor (2FA) authentication when logging into GothicNet. Two-Factor authentication prevents others from logging into a user's account and protects users from the risks of phishing scams and other forms of password theft.
Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your online accounts. Verifying your identity using a second factor (like your phone or another mobile device) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.
Three steps to stronger authentication:
Once you've enrolled in Duo you're ready to go: You'll log in as usual with your username and password, and then use your device to verify that it's you. With 2FA, users will be required to confirm their identity using one of the below available options:
Duo Push is the easiest and quickest way of authenticating. You'll get a login request sent to your phone — just press Approve to authenticate.
Access Duo Mobile App from your Apps and Tap the down indicator to get a one-time passcode for login. This works anywhere, even in places where you don't have an internet connection or can't get cell service.

Authenticate via Phone Callback
If you want to authenticate via backup landline phone number listed in your profile, if your password is "hunter3", type: hunter3,phone2. You will get a call on your landline and respond to the call to confirm identity by answering the call and pressing a key.
