NJCU is pleased to announce that we will host TWO (2) commencement ceremonies on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Please be advised that due to an event conflict with the Prudential Center, the start times of both ceremonies have changed. The first ceremony, originally scheduled for 9 a.m., will now begin at 11 a.m. Meanwhile, the second ceremony, originally slated for 1 p.m., will now begin at 3 p.m.
Please note the revised schedule, including seating times:
- 11 a.m. Ceremony: School of Business and College of Professional Studies (doors open at 10 a.m. for all graduates, and all must be seated by 10:40 a.m.)
- 3 p.m. Ceremony: Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education and the William J. Maxwell College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) and CAS/Education dual-degree recipients (doors open at 2 p.m. for all graduates, and all must be seated by 2:40 p.m.)

NJCU DOES NOT REQUIRE TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT AND ALL GUESTS ARE WELCOME.
Ceremony
- The ceremony will last no more than two (2) hours. Commencement is an important and formal occasion during which each graduate should be treated with the highest respect and honor.
- To ensure that each individual can enjoy this day, we ask that all graduates remain seated until the ceremony's conclusion.
- Due to the social distancing requirements of the venue, there will be no procession or recessions for students, faculty, or staff. All participants will be asked to be immediately seated once arriving at the venue.
- Seating will be determined based on school and major.
Commencement Livestream
In addition to the in-person ceremony at the Prudential Center, NJCU broadcast both ceremonies. Visit the commencement site to be a part of the celebration.
Commencement Photos
Island Photography will be capturing each graduate's " moment" as they enter and exit the stage.
Within 48-72 hours after the ceremony, you will be emailed a unique link to view or order your images from your graduation celebration. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase. Regalia
Deadline: 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 5
- Academic regalia MUST be ordered by May 5 to participate in the Commencement ceremonies.
- All academic attire will be shipped to you at the address you provide in your regalia reservation. Caps and gowns will not be distributed to graduates at Commencement, so please enter a shipping address that you know is trustworthy.
- All graduates must have regalia to participate in the ceremony.

Bachelor's Graduates: Your items are yours to keep!
Master's Graduates: Your gown and your hood are custom rental items. You may keep your cap and tassel. For your convenience, you will be provided with a pre-paid return label.
Doctoral Graduates: Your gown, tam, and hood are custom rental items. You may keep your tassel. For your convenience, you will be provided with a pre-paid return label.
To purchase your doctoral regalia, please email ybenyamini@herffjones.com.
You MUST return rental regalia postmarked by July 15, 2022, to ensure delivery of your diploma and not be charged for the rental.
How to process a return
Flat World Global Solutions coordinates your Herff Jones Cap and Gown rental apparel return. Please note the following return instructions:
• Following your event, repack your rental apparel for return in original cartons.
• Use the return portal to verify your return information, print a FedEx return label, and schedule a pickup.
• All returns will be scheduled no earlier than the next business day.
• Use the portal for rental gowns returning to Champaign, IL only. Contact Flat World for all other returns.
• You can contact Flat World directly at herffjones@flatworldgs.com for all your return questions.

In the top right corner of the ordering page, click on cap and gown order status and use your CPA number below to check the status.
Ticketing Information
Guests DO NOT need to have an entry ticket, and all guests are welcome. There is no maximum number of guests per student.
Please note a few important facts about attending the graduation at Prudential Center:
- Masks are strongly encouraged to be worn while on Prudential Center property and inside the arena.
- All guests will be required to follow all Prudential Center safety protocols, which can be found here.
Accessibility
The entire Prudential Center is accessible; therefore, if you have guests who need to utilize the accessible entrance and require access to accessible seating, please arrive as early as possible.
If you are a graduating student who requires special accommodations or has guests who need accommodations, please contact Jennifer Aitken in the Office of Specialized Services and Supplemental Instruction (201-200-2091).
Diplomas
- Diploma cases will be given out at the Prudential Center.
- Students, who are cleared for degrees, will be sent postcards with the dates and times when diplomas may be picked up at the Registrar's Office.
Honors Cords
Undergraduate students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.65 or higher as of Fall 2021 will receive honor cords. Honor cords are to be picked up at the Registrar’s Office at Hepburn Hall-214.
