Early Childhood Education Major with Dual Certification in Early Childhood (P-3) and Elementary Education (K-6)

  • Program Description

    Completion of this major prepares educators to work with children from for Preschool through Grade Three and the Elementary Teacher Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing. Candidates for this certification must also complete one of the following liberal arts majors offered by the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences: 

     Admission Requirements to any NJCU Education Program for students entering 9/1/2015 or later: 

    • GPA of 3.0
    • Passing score on Praxis Core (or SAT/ACT waiver)
    • Passing score on the COE TOW&R assessment
    • Successful completion of all phase I coursework with a grade of B- or above

     
    Program Completion: 

    • Completion of NJCU General Education Requirements or equivalent
    • A passing score on the Early Childhood Content Knowledge Praxis II Exam (5022) and the Elementary Education Praxis (5001) prior to Phase III 
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0  
    • Successful completion of Early Childhood Education Internship
