Information Literacy: Definition

Information literacy, or info lit, is a set of competencies requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."

Information Literacy: A Key Competency of Lifelong Learning

Information literacy has become a key competency of lifelong learning in the Information Age. Faced with diverse, abundant, unfiltered Internet information and many specialized databases, it is especially necessary for university students to develop information literacy skills.
