  • The administrative office of the M. Jerry Weiss Center for Children's and Young Adult Literature is located in Grossnickle Hall Room 103. The Center was officially opened on October 5, 2006.  Visitors to the Center's office will find recent children's and young adult books donated by publishers.

Visitors are encouraged to read the latest books and submit book reviews.  These reviews are designed to help educators find the latest books and consider them for classroom use. As per our borrowing policy, all members of the university community (i.e., alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff) are permitted to borrow from the Weiss Center.  The Center also permits librarians and teachers to borrow from the collection (please see the borrowing policy).  Selected reviews will be published in the Center’s periodical publication, the Weiss Word, and on this website.

The circulating collection of the Center is housed in the Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library. This piece of the collection is located on the third floor in the Juvenile Collection. Books in the circulating collection which are part of the Weiss Center collection have bookplates identifying them as donations.  These books have been donated by publishers, Dr. Weiss, or by friends and relatives of Dr. Weiss in his name.

The reference (non-circulating) part of the collection consists of autographed books (children's, young adult and adult).  These books are located in Special Collections on the first floor of the library. Like the Weiss Center books which are in the circulating collection, these books have bookplates designating them as donations.
