PIANO CAMP 

An innovative and fun week-long musical experience led by pianist Olga Sedycias and music faculty from NJCU, for young pianists of all abilities. Campers will practice in NJCU’s state-of-the-art piano lab and perform on Steinway Instruments. Camp will end with a celebration and free recital open to the public.

JUNIOR MUSIC CAMP

For younger students interested in music, NJCU offers a one-week summer session with sing-alongs, crafts, art, music games, and engaging activities. With the goal of exploring music, the emphasis is on building friendships and creating music together. Students will present a final performance at the end of each session with a celebration and free recital open to the public. 

Where: NJCU Main Campus 2039 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07305

Duration: 10am - 2pm daily, with a performance on the final day 

Open to: Students entering grades 3-6

DIRECTORS
Joseph d'Auguste has "consistently stood out" (New York Times) for displaying his "great virtuosity" (Columbia Spectator) in his roles as a performer, teacher, clinician, and artistic director. Constantly in demand throughout the tri-state area, the "richly equipped clarinetist" (Staten Island Advance) maintains a busy schedule due to his great versatility. d'Auguste currently serves as the Coordinator of Woodwind Studies and Artistic Director of the New Jersey City University Community Music School and Summer Music Programs. 
 
Amparo Fabra, PhD - Program Director 
Amparo Fabra Crespo is a certified K-12 New Jersey Music Teacher and a composer who specializes in contemporary and experimental music. She received degrees in Piano, Musicology, and Composition from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia, Spain. She also holds a Master in Music Composition from The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music, New York, and a Ph.D. in Music Composition from The Graduate Center, The City University of New York. Currently, Amparo is an Assistant Professor at the Caroline L. Guarini Department of Music, Dance and Theatre at New Jersey City University.
 
Olga Sedycias, MM- Piano Camp Director 
Olga Sedycias, MM – Piano Performance, Webster University; B.M. – Piano Performance, University of Brasilia. Studied with Daniel Schene at Webster University and New Salgado at the University of Brasilia. Attended many master classes with acclaimed pianists such as Jane Solose, Ian Hobson, Cristina Ortiz and Paul Badura Skoda. Taught master class and adjudicated for piano competitions in the St Louis and Southern Illinois area. Has taught piano privately and in music schools at all levels both in the U.S. and abroad. Currently Adjunct Professor of Piano and Music Theory at New Jersey City University, formerly Adjunct Professor of Piano at Webster University. Ms. Sedycias has enjoyed a versatile musical career as a solo and collaborative pianist in South America and the U.S. As a soloist, has played with orchestras in Brazil and United States, performed solo recitals in Florida and Missouri, and accompanied opera singers in New Jersey and New York; was the featured artist in a recital in Holland (recorded live); won prizes in several piano competitions and performed chamber music recitals extensively throughout Brazil.
