This session will invite participants to consider the neurological foundations of developmental play stages, and apply these lessons in therapeutic techniques to work with infants, toddlers and preschoolers who are not yet communicating through symbolic expression.

Let's Play: The Building Blocks of Play Therapy

This presentation aims to use a developmental lens to explain the rationale for play as an intervention in therapy. It aims to give a brief introduction to play therapy theory and basic application of play therapy in a variety of circumstances.

3:00-4:30 Mind Crafters - Improving self regulation with pre-adolescents therapeutic groups

This presentation will review an original therapeutic group curriculum that teaches pre-adolescents about stress and self-regulation    through the familiar metaphor of video game play. This group is relevant for children working on regulatory challenges due to a variety of diagnoses, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Utilizing child-centered group play therapy with kindergarten children with social-emotional difficulties in schools

The presentation aims to promote the use of Child-Centered Group Play Therapy (CCGPT) by discussing the foundation and process of CCGPT, the rationale for using CCGPT with kindergarten children with social-emotional struggles in school settings, considerations for group selection and playroom setup, and multicultural issues in the CCGPT process.

The registration fee that you paid minus $20 for processing fee will be issued to those who cancelled by August 31th, 2017. Refund will not be issued if you cancel after August 31st. Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive refund.
