Undergraduate Graduation Clearance

Clearance Effective Fall 2014, the minimum number of degree credits required for a Baccalaurete Degree was reduced from 128 to 120 credits.

A senior, eligible for graduation/certification, must complete the online, "Intent To Graduate" form. To apply, log on to your GothicNet and click on the Student Dashboard tab.  Complete and Submit form.

Seniors with an Education major/comajor cannot apply online.  Please report to the Registrar’s Office, Hepburn 214, to obtain the “Intent to Graduate” form and the Certification packet.  Follow instructions to complete and submit forms.

** A $75.00 per application non-refundable Graduation Clearance Fee will be charged to all students upon filing for graduation clearance. Your diploma will NOT be released if the Graduation fee is due or if a balance is due to New Jersey City University.

Deadline Dates

May 15 to June 15, if the student expects to complete all requirements by the end of the Summer I or II Sessions. Transcripts and diplomas will be dated August 15 and diplomas will be available October 15.

August 1 to September 30, if the student expects to complete all requirements by the end of the fall semester. Transcripts and diplomas will be dated January 31, and diplomas will be available by March 15.

November 1 to January 15, if the student expects to complete all requirements by the end of the spring semester, transcripts and diplomas will be dated the date of Commencement and diplomas will be available by approximately July 15.

The Dean of Students will forward a letter during April to each graduating senior regarding participation in the May Commencement.

NOTE: "Certification Only" Students file an application for certification with the Certification Processing Office in P-203.

2018-2019 Undergraduate Graduation Clearance Workshops

The workshops are designed to prepare students for graduation. The workshop facilitator will review graduation requirements, the application process, the graduation ceremony. Please bring a copy of your Degree Progress Report.

Pre-registration is required for workshops.

Graduate Graduation Clearance

Degree Audit

The degree audit is an academic advising document that maps a student's degree requirements. The purpose of the audit is to provide information to assist in academic planning and appropriate course scheduling.

  • Degree Audits are available to all currently enrolled undergraduate students by accessing GothicNet.

  • If a student feels that their audit is not correctly analyzing their program requirements, they should contact their Advisor. Students who already declared a major, please see your Academic Advisor. Undeclared students, please report to the University Advisement Center
