Filing Periods/Deadline Dates

Summer II Graduation Term – May 15 to June 15, if the student expects to complete all degree requirements by the end of the Summer I or II Sessions. Upon approval of graduation, transcripts and diplomas will have a degree awarded date of August 15, and diplomas will be available by October 15.

Summer III Graduation Term – May 15 to July 31, if the student expects to complete all degree requirements by the end of Summer III. Upon approval of graduation, transcripts and diplomas will have a degree awarded date of August 31, and diplomas will be available by October 15.

Fall Graduation Term – August 1 to September 30, if the student expects to complete all degree requirements by the end of the Fall semester. Upon approval of graduation, transcripts and diplomas will have a degree awarded date of January 31, and diplomas will be available by March 15.

Spring Graduation Term – November 1 to January 15, if the student expects to complete all degree requirements by the end of the spring semester. Upon approval of graduation, transcripts and diplomas will have a degree awarded date corresponding to the date of the Commencement Ceremony, and diplomas will be available by August 15.

  • Students completing all degree requirements during Summer terms but requesting to participate in the Spring Commencement Ceremony of the same year, must apply online for the Spring graduation term and adhere to Spring deadline dates.
    • For eligibility: undergraduate candidates must have no more than nine credits left to complete degree requirements and Graduate candidates six or less credits which must be taken during the summer session of the graduation year.

NOTE: "Certification Only" Students file an application for certification with the Center for Teacher Preparation and Partnerships Office in P-203.

** A $100.00 per application non-refundable Graduation Clearance Fee will be charged to all students upon filing for graduation clearance. Your diploma will NOT be released if the Graduation fee is due or if a balance is due to New Jersey City University.
