2021-2022  COVID-19 Guide and Return to Play

The intent of this page is to provide clear direction on how New Jersey City University Athletics will appropriately lead, navigate, and support the members of the Athletics community during this health pandemic. We are keenly aware that this document is subject to changes due to the fluid nature of COVID-19 and most recently the Delta variant.

To date, approximately 85% of NJCU student-athletes have been inoculated with at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. These are very promising numbers and have certainly assisted in the decisions and directives outlined below as it pertains to return to play, testing requirements, social distance, and masking. Our goal is that all non-exempt individuals will receive their COVID-19 vaccine to ensure for the healthiest environment possible for the student-athlete experience. We will continue to monitor and strongly encourage vaccines throughout the academic year.

As we kick-start the fall pre-season camp and thereafter transition into full-sport competition, all students, coaches and staff will be categorized into two groups: Vaccinated and Non-Vaccinated.

  • Vaccinated individuals are defined as those who have been fully inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine and have uploaded their vaccine card to Sportsware.*
  • Non-Vaccinated individuals are defined as those who are partially inoculated, non-vaccinated or non-vaccinated with proof of medical/religious exemption.

The following provides directives on how each group will be required to follow in an effort to access or participate in NJCU Athletics activities.
