Computer Labs

In-person computer labs/classrooms will only be accessible with strict adherence to New Jersey State restrictions in effect at the time of use. Computer labs are only intended for:

(1) instructional purposes; and

(2) access to applications required to complete instructional assignments.

All computer labs will be monitored by a University employee during any period for compliance with all applicable health and safety guidelines and procedures while occupied.

All labs are equipped with signage reminding patrons of infection control practices, such as regular hand washing, coughing and sneezing etiquette, and proper tissue usage and disposal.

Occupancy will be restricted in order to maintain the six-foot social distancing requirement. No seating other than at the computer workstation area and instructor podium will be available in the computer lab to ensure social distancing. Floor signs and inactive computer workstations nearest to instructors will ensure six-foot distancing.

Usage of face coverings will be required in all computer labs (lab users and lab staff). Every effort should be made to bring individual face coverings. In the event personal face coverings are not available, the University will provide one.

NJCU’s staff will wipe down all high-touch surfaces frequently with approved, computer-safe, EPA-registered disinfectant. Paper towels, wipes or cloths should be sprayed with disinfectant and then used to wipe surfaces. Personnel must ensure that the surfaces are damp but do not saturate the electronics. Allow surfaces to air dry. Wash or sanitize your hands after removing gloves and carefully remove them as to not touch the exterior surfaces of the gloves.

Computer lab staff will sanitize each work area or terminal following each use. Disinfectant wipe stations will be placed throughout the lab. Users of lab computers will be responsible for disinfecting workspace and equipment before and after every use. NJCU’s Housekeeping staff will provide disinfecting wipes/spray bottle with disinfectant and paper towels to each computer lab.

Note: Users must always wear protective gloves (e.g., nitrile or latex gloves) when using any disinfectant. If disinfectant is not present, or if protective gloves are not available, the computer lab should not remain open. Lab users shall utilize disinfecting wipes/spray solution to sanitize work area before each use. Care should be given not to spray the solution directly onto the electronic equipment. For immediate refill of any supplies, contact the lab staff.

Wherever practicable, separate entrances and exits will be clearly marked. Access to specialized hardware/software will be specified by the instructor with specific arrangements for access either remotely or in-person. Information Management will be the primary contact for support of students with limited access to technology or the internet. Solutions will consider the individual circumstances of each student requesting relief.

To accommodate high-risk individuals, Computer Lab E of the Professional Studies Building, Room 103 has been set aside Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
