Academic Search Premier

Academic Search Premier is one of EBSCOHost's full-text databases. It covers full-text articles from nearly 3,200 scholarly publications, and numerous peer-reviewed journals with a coverage for nearly all academic areas of study - including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies, etc.

Accounting & Tax with Standards

The database allows search key accounting standards from FASB, GASB, and IASB along with top accounting literature. Standards content includes Original Pronouncements, Statements, Interpretations, Board Opinions, AICPA Interpretations, Current Text, EITF Abstracts and much more. It also has in-depth coverage of accounting policies, state and national tax legislation, corporate taxation, as well as related accounting topics such as auditing, compensation, pension plans, and financial management.

ACM Digital Library

A searchable database that provides citations and full text to all ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) journal and newsletter articles and conference proceedings.

ACS (American Chemical Society) Publications

The database contains approximately 30 ACS journals online.

Alt-HealthWatch

This database covers many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers full text articles from more than 170 international peer-reviewed and professional journals, magazines, reports, proceedings, association & consumer newsletters, plus hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts.

BasicBIOSIS

This database, produced by Biological Abstracts, Inc. (BIOSIS), is a general life science reference collection covering life sciences, environmental sciences and other related disciplines. BasicBIOSIS includes coverage of nearly 350 of the most popular life science publications, typically found in college and university libraries. Coverage includes meeting reports, reviews, references to newsletters, newspapers, and trade publications allowing students to also find the business applications of life science research. The range of coverage is a rolling four-year file, growing to 5 years.

Biography Collection Complete

The database features over 177,000 full-text biographies in history, science, the arts, music, literature, multicultural studies, gender studies, business, government & politics, sports, entertainment and many other areas.

Biomedical Reference Collection: Comprehensive

This full text database provides over 800 peer-reviewed journals in clinical medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system and the pre-clinical sciences. Those full text journals are also indexed in Medline.

The online version of the Books in Print offers users great functionality to search and access database to find information of books and publishers. Forthcoming titles are also covered.

Business Source Elite

The database covers about 1,100 full-text business publications, of which nearly 500 are peer-reviewed. It also covers 10,000 company profiles from Datamonitor.

Business Source Premier

This full text database covers over 8,000 scholarly business journals and
publications, including more than 1,100 peer-reviewed and scholarly journals
such as Harvard Business Review, California Management Review, Journal of
Marketing Research, etc. It also provides detailed company profiles for the
world's 10,000 largest companies, with information in nearly all areas of
business.

Cabell's Directories

The database provides full-text directory information to journals about submission guidelines, acceptance rates, review process, and other requirements for scholars to publish their articles. NJCU users can access the following directories through the Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library:

This is a finding tool for federal publications that includes descriptive records for historical and current publications and provides direct links to those that are available online.

CINAHL with Full Text

CINAHL with Full Text provides indexing for 2,737 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health. The database contains more than 1,000,000 records dating back to 1982. Offering complete coverage of English-language nursing journals and publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses' Association, CINAHL with Full Text covers nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. In addition, this database offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters. Searchable cited references for more than 1,150 journals are also included. CINAHL with Full Text provides full text for 329 journals, plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials. PDF backfiles to 1982 are also included.

Clinical Pharmacology

The database provides concise and clinically-relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs. Drugs may be searched by their generic or brand names. In addition, patient education resources containing information about medication and drugs is provided in both English and Spanish languages.

Key word search for colleges and universities in US and foreign countries with links to the college web sites, and/or maps and catalogs; over 16.000 full-text college catalogs on line.

Contemporary Authors 

This database provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on more than 120,000 US and international authors.

Corporate ResourceNet

This database contains full text articles about company information from nearly 1,200 quality magazines and journals, such as Fortune and Money as well as many trade publications. In addition, this database also includes detailed company profiles for the world's 10,000 largest companies.

This database provides concise and up-to-date political, economic and business information, as well as daily news and data on over 190 countries of the world.

EBSCOhost Electronic Journals Service

Access to abstracts and tables of contents from thousands of journals, along with
approximately 150 full-text journals.

EBSCO's Encyclopedia of Animals

The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals. Some images are available.

Education Fulltext

This is one of the H. W. Wilson full text databases. Education Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals and yearbooks published in the United States and elsewhere. English-language books relating to education published in 1995 or later are also indexed. Abstracting coverage begins with January 1994. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source documents. Full-text coverage begins in January 1996.

Encyclopedia of Life Sciences

This unique and dynamic resource covers about 3,000 peer-reviewed articles in the biological sciences. It also offers selected news provided by Nature each day. It provides a glossary and extensive links to more information.

ERIC

This US Department of Educational Resource Information Center database contains citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals. The database also contains full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information.

Ethnic Newswatch

Ethnic NewsWatch is a comprehensive full text database of newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press. This unique body of materials covers a wide range of current topics and countless other social, political and educational subjects. Ethnic NewsWatch also includes worldwide coverage of issues in Ireland, Israel and the Middle East, Mexico, Bosnia, Armenia, China, Nigeria and the Ukraine among other countries.

Produced by American Geological Institute, this database provides access to geoscience literature of the world. It contains bibliographic references and abstracts to journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports, and theses.

GreenFILE

Multidisciplinary by nature, the database covers scholarly articles and government publications on the topics of global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.

Health and Wellness Resource Center

Health Reference Center Academic

Health Source: Consumer Edition

This consumer health database features full text for about 190 journals and abstracts and indexing for over 200 publications on topics including medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. It also covers USP Pharmacopoeia DI: Volume II Advice for the Lay Patient and 20 health research books, including books published by the People's Medical Society; Stedman's Medical Dictionary for users to search for terminologies; and searchable full text for nearly 1,190 health-related pamphlets. Other features include thousands of essays from Clinical Reference Systems covering eight major health related subjects, including adult health, behavioral health, cardiology, drug and medication information, pediatric health, senior health, women's health and sports medicine.

Heath Source: Nursing/Academic Edition

The database provides full text for nearly 550 scholarly journals and also abstracts and indexing for about 850 journals on medical disciplines as well as nursing and allied health topics. In addition, this database includes Clinical Pharmacology, which provides access to up-to-date, concise and clinically relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new drugs.

HeritageQuest Online

This online database offers unique material for both genealogical and historical researchers, with coverage dating back to the late 1700s. It includes all of the images, and extensive indexing, from the 1790 - 1930 U.S. federal censuses; offers more than 20,000 book titles, including nearly 8,000 family histories and over 12,000 local histories; and has more than 250 primary-source documents such as tax lists, city directories, probate records, and more. Some invaluable sources of information included are: Periodical Source Index (PERSI), a widely recognized resource guide, updated annually, that covers more than 6,300 genealogy and history periodicals written in English and French (Canada) since 1800; the Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files, which identifies more than 80,000 American military, naval, and marine officers and enlisted men; and the forthcoming Freedman’s Bank Records is a database that documents more than 70,000 bank depositors and their dependants and heirs. The database includes digital reproductions of searchable full text articles from New York Times covering from the first issue published in 1851 to recent articles published in 2003.

This Hoover's premium database provides information on 12 million companies, with in-depth coverage of 40,000 of the world's top business enterprises, including corporate data, in depth industry analyses, company location, summary financials, top competitors, top officers, and more. The database also delivers proprietary content of more than 40,000 public and non-public companies and 225,000 key executives.

Informe

This Spanish language database offers full-text access to the most popular titles among Hispanic library users, covers a wide range of subject matter from current events to academic interests from more than 140 Spanish-language and bilingual periodicals. Remote access to the database is available through the Library home page.

InfoTrac Custom Newspapers

The database features more than 33.5 million full-text articles from more
than 150 newspapers from around the world. Selected articles from more than
300 additional sources of news and business information supplement the
collection.

Kids search

This database is designed to serve the reference needs of youth in grades K-8. Its search interface has pictorial icons representing curricular topics. Good source for images.

It provides search capability and access to all Marquis Who's Who print titles since 1985. MAS Ultra - School Edition

The database provides bibliographic records and some full text access to periodicals and books covering general reference, health, science, and other areas. MasterFILE Premier

Updated daily, the database includes a 90-day archive of approximately 300 newspapers from the McClatchy-Tribune Information Service.

This authoritative medical database provides citations and abstracts to about 5,000 journals on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pro-clinical sciences, and more.

Mental Measurements Yearbook

This database provides updated description and evaluation to over 2,000 contemporary testing instruments in English language. It covers subjects such as psychology, education, business, and leadership.

Middle Search Plus

The database contains full text for nearly 140 popular, middle school magazines. All full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).

MLA Directory of Periodicals

This database contains directory information on journals and series The entries list editorial addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, frequency of publication, descriptions of the periodicals' scopes, circulation figures, subscription prices and addresses, advertising information, and submission guidelines. The directory also provides statistics on how many articles and book reviews the periodicals publish each year, as well as how many are submitted.

Modern Language Association (MLA) International Bibliography

1963- ; consists of bibliographic records pertaining to literature, language, linguistics, and folklore from scholarly research journals and series in English and foreign languages.

Nature Publishing Group Journal Online

Nature Publishing Group Journal Online covers academic journals and reference publications on basic biological and physical sciences.

Newspaper Source

The database provides selected full text for about 30 national and international newspapers, including USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Times (London), The Toronto Star, etc. The database also contains selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers, including The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit Free Press, The Miami Herald, The New York Daily News, The San Jose Mercury News, etc. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are provided from CBS News, FOX News, NPR, etc.

Net Library

This is a full-text electronic book collection including 3,400 publicly-accessible titles as well as 253 tilts that are subscribed by NJCU Library.

National Fire Codes provided by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association).

Novelist

This database provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 120,000 fiction titles. Also helpful for school teachers are the Standards-Based Thematic Units and Picture Book Extenders, as well as specific teaching guides for using fiction in the classroom.

NoveList K-8

The database is aimed at helping younger readers find the books (by author, title, series, theme or topic), with full-text reviews, they want to read. In addition, it includes scripts of book talks delivered by well-known librarians, offers specific examples of the many ways in which picture books can be used by teachers and parents, and contains hundreds of genre and theme-based bibliographies as well as lists of award-winning titles.

The NTDB (National Trade Data Bank)

The NTDS provides access to Country Commercial Guides, Market Research reports, Best Market reports and other programs. The International Trade Library is a comprehensive collection of over 40,000 documents related to international trade. All are full text searchable, as well as key word searchable by country or product.

Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive

This database provides about 400 full text journals that are all indexed in CINAHL, including 300 peer-reviewed titles, covering the areas of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health and allied health disciplines. This database covers less journal titles than CINAHL; however, it allows users to link to full text from citations within CINAHL.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

Drawing on a book series under the same title, the database features viewpoint articles, magazine, journal, and newspaper articles, primary source documents, and inks to websites on most debated current social issues.

Oxford Art Online

The database is a comprehensive and authoritative online resource for research in the history of visual arts.

Oxford English Dictionary

The OED Online allows users to enter a word or phrase to search for definition. It also provides full-text searches for all OED's definitions, etymologies, and quotations.

Oxford Music Online

Oxford Music Online is a gateway that offers cross-search for biographies, timelines and topical guides in several music resources including Grove Music Online, the Oxford Companion to Music, and the Oxford Dictionary of Music.

Points of View Reference Center

The full-text database provides students with balanced resources that present multiple sides of a current issue. About 200 topics are included: affirmative action, cloning, DNA profiling, HIV/AIDS status disclosure, immigration, Iraq, Israel & the Palestinians, Katrina and FEMA response, nuclear proliferation, separation of church and state, standardized testing, stem cell research, tax cuts, voting machines, and many more. Additionally, this database contains the Video Encyclopedia of the 20th Century, providing students with a searchable collection of some of the most important social, political, and cultural moments of the 20th century.

A companion database to CINAHL, this database provides researchers with awareness of new journal articles before they appear in CINAHL.

Praeger Security International Online

The database includes topics such as:response and emergency management, transportation network security, community planning for rescue and recovery events, homeland security, business and information security, and criminal justice.

Primary Search

Primary Search provides full text from 57 children's magazines for elementary level. It offers indexing and abstracts for over 80 magazines. In addition, it includes full text sources such as: The World Almanac of U.S.A. and The World Almanac for Kids; The Encyclopedia of Animals; Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia; and full text for over 100 pamphlets.

Professional Development Collection

The database provides a specialized collection especially for professional educators, professional librarians and education researchers. The collection offers information on everything from children's health and development to cutting-edge pedagogical theory and practice. It covers about 722 abstracted and indexed journals (506 peer-reviewed), over 500 full-text journals (343 are peer-reviewed). Full-text journals include: Chronicle of Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Journal of Education, Journal of Higher Education, Journal of Learning Disabilities, Theory Into Practice, and more. The database gives access to over 745 top educational publications, including nearly 600 of the titles in full text. ProQuest Psychology Journals

The database provides abstracts and indexing for more than 610 titles, with over 520 titles available in full text to leading psychology and psychosomatic publications. In addition to clinical and social psychology, it also provides coverage of related disciplines including genetics, psychology of business and economics, communication, criminology, addiction, neurology, social welfare, and more. A number of the titles are heavily cited and have a strong set of ISI impact factors.
