DIRECTOR'S
MESSAGE
To those who wish to survive in this Information Age;
to learn how to find authoritative information efficiently, using technology
or otherwise; for study, research, practical daily or professional use;
to augment existing knowledge; or to find a quiet escape from daily
existence or campus life, the Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library is
the place for you.
Because of the unending increase in information and knowledge, the quietness
of the physical library belies its intellectual dynamism. Its four walls
do not circumscribe the reach of knowledge to be gained. It attempts
to serve as a comprehensive gateway to global knowledge using not only
the Internet and the physical sources of information within the library,
but also databases related to academic programs in the university. With
technology, the library becomes virtual and not confined by space and
time. Its resources are available during all hours of the day and the
night.
The Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library has been extensively renovated
with wide, open and well-lit spaces, housing all materials and numerous
PCs scattered through four floors. Its technology infrastructure was
designed to provide an integrated, one-stop access to information resources
from all the PCs.The library features laptop docking, a wireless network, a touch-screen
Library Information Kiosk for basic library information, PC stations
for the physically-challenged, a Bibliographic/Information Literacy
room known as the Machuga Technology Center, and other unique services.
I invite you all to come, visit and see for yourself. My staff and I
would be delighted to welcome you.
Grace F. Bulaong
Director of the Library
