    Please join us in supporting the NJCU Foundation as we present the 5th Annual NJCU Alumni Jazz Big Band Concert led by Music Director and Conductor Richard Lowenthal on the J. Owen Grundy Pier. In partnership with the City of Jersey City, this outdoor concert has become one of the most anticipated free concerts of the year and draws a huge crowd.

    A workshop with Donna Walker-Kuhne, Director of Community Engagement at NJPAC, on tangible strategies to authentically build and expand multicultural audiences for the arts. Up for discussion are national trends on engaging diverse audiences, as well as how to establish a culture of diversity and inclusion with an arts organization. 

    This workshop is part of NJCU’s commitment to building the capacity of local arts organizations and supporting dialogues to shape the cultural landscape in Jersey City.

    Convocation 2017

    Convocation marks the traditional beginning of the academic year and offers a unique opportunity to rededicate ourselves to NJCU’s mission of teaching, research and service. The ceremony serves as a proud reminder of the tremendous depth of knowledge of our faculty, and of their commitment to share this knowledge with the NJCU community.

    The 2017 Convocation ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 5 at 2 p.m. in the Margaret Williams Theatre on the Second Floor of Hepburn Hall.

    Faculty, professional staff and students are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony.

    An evening with icon Judith Jamison - dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director Emeritus of the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. As a dancer, Ms. Jamison became one of modern dance's great performers and she was appointed Artistic Director of the company in 1989 at the request of Alvin Ailey, himself. She will reflect on her life and the importance of the arts in our culture.
