New Jersey City University offers master’s and doctoral degree programs, as well as specialized certificates in selected areas of study determined by the educational needs of the people of the region and by academic resources. The Office of Graduate Studies is responsible for the governance of graduate instructional programs through the polices of the University.

The Dean is an ex officio member of the University Senate Graduate Studies Committee and the ad hoc Grad Council.

The Office of Graduate Studies encourages, facilitates, and supports students in all units of the university.

MISSION

The Office of Graduate Studies strives to elevate NJCU’s graduate education programs to be innovative, relevant, and increasingly visible on all campus locations, in the various communities it serves, in the state of New Jersey, and beyond by providing access to all through in-person, online, and hybrid formats.

The Office of Graduate Studies central purpose:

  1. To monitor and support academic progress and retention of graduate students toward certificate and degree completion;
  2. To provide support for graduate programs through the leadership of the Dean, the University’s Schools and Colleges, representing the graduate faculty;
  3. To ensure the quality and continued innovative practices of graduate programs through support for program self-assessment and through regular program review;
  4. To continue to expand student services to meet the needs of students today for accessible academic programs, online opportunities, and continued professional and personal development; and
  5. To stimulate and support graduate student research and creative activities.

The Office of Graduate Studies is here to bridge the pathway for graduate students from enrollment to certificate or degree completion, in collaboration with individual program faculty and other support offices of the University.
