JOHN BLICHARZ HEADSHOT

Criminal Justice Alum Dr. John Blicharz will discuss issues in crime and education, his career in higher education as well as other career pathways.

Dr. Blicharz graduated from NJCU with an M.S. in Criminal Justice in 2016 and earned his TESOL certification from The Teachers College, Columbia University ('20) and Ph.D. in Literacy Education at St. John's University ('21).

He is currently the Director of Tutoring and Academic Support Programming, also known as The Hub, at NJCU. John will discuss the importance of education and the effects of crime on education. Additionally, while students in criminal justice programs may choose better-known careers in the field, others may follow pathways to education and/or scholarship. Here, it is important to draw upon educational theories and strategies, particularly while working with underserved communities which are often affected by crime and the criminal justice system.
