“Water is the element that connects and disconnects me from my country, my culture, my society of Venezuela. A very important fact about water is that it can maintain its same state in different places but its meaning varies.” Rubin’s work, through the mediums of photography, and video, investigates and demonstrates how water can be used to symbolize that separation.
