Career Readiness Summit: The Time is Now

The Center for Career and Professional Development is hosting a 3-week summit featuring 13 different events during the month of February. All events are free for students who sign up.

Wednesday, 2/7 | Summit Event #4
1:00-2:00 p.m. Bringing Your Authentic Self to Work (Andrea Squillante- Golden): workshop on facilitating a culture where employees feel comfortable enough to display their 'whole selves'; staying true to oneself and openly sharing your strengths and what makes you the unique talent your employer was looking for (workforce personality and emotional intelligence session).
 
 

Wednesday, 2/7 | Summit Event #5
2:00-3:00 p.m.
In-person Interviewing & Elevator Pitches (Andrea Squillante- Golden): workshop on learning the ins and outs of the interviewing process (how to dress, how to carry yourself, virtual timeliness, answering questions, etc.) and preparing you 60-90-second pitch (“Tell me about yourself.”) to employers and recruiters (employment and grad school) that are sure to get their attention and get you the job.

Gothic Rack Professional Attire Shopping Event- Looking for professional attire for the Spring Career Fair? Our Career Development professionals will be teaming up with the folks at the
Gothic Rack to help you pick out the perfect outfit to meet potential employers. Stop by the table in the GSUB Main Lobby or the Gothic Rack on the 2nd floor so we can assist you.

Job Searching on Handshake- presented by Sarah McGough, Internship & Postgraduate Outcomes Coordinator, Center for Career and Professional Development
The NJCU Center for Career and Professional Development has 5,000+ employer partnerships that students and alumni can access on Handshake (NJCU’s career management platform). Attend this session to learn how to utilize the Handshake platform to find and apply for internship and job opportunities at reputable companies and organizations seeking to hire current students and recent graduates.

12:00-3:00 p.m. Spring 2024 Career Fair-The NJCU Spring 2024 Career Fair is an exciting event aimed at helping students/alumni explore and pursue careers across all industries. It brings together leading employers, organizations, and professionals from all sectors to engage with students/alumni and provide valuable career insights. This fair will provide a platform for students/alumni to explore career paths, network, and learn about available job opportunities in their respective areas of interest.
 
Companies that will be in attendance: The FBI, Wiss & Company, Amtrak, Crum & Forster, Equitable Advisors, International Rescue Committee, New York Red Bulls, The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Foundation, Uncommon Schools, and more!
