Accounting—Bridge Program to the M.S. in Accounting, B.S.

The combined Bachelor of Science/Master of Science in Accounting Bridge Program was established in the spring 2009 semester to better serve the needs of New Jersey City University (NJCU) accounting undergraduates who intend to enter the accounting profession. Accounting, B.S.

Completion of this major prepares a student for a career as an auditor in either public accounting, government accounting, or internal auditing. The student may also pursue the fields of tax consulting and preparation, management accounting, budget analysis, forensic accounting, or financial analysis. Continued study may include a master's and/or doctoral degree in taxation, forensic accounting, compliance, business, or law.

National Security Studies, B.S.

Population Health — Public Health Education, B.S.

The mission of the public health education program is to prepare entry-level health education specialists in the community and public health field who have skills such as health planning, program implementation and evaluation, and health advocacy for diverse populations in a variety of health promotion settings.  

The Public Health Education program is a competency-based program with a sequence of courses that are designed to meet the needs of a public health educator. The curriculum builds on theory-based health models, health knowledge, and applying theory to practice.

Exercise Science, B.S.

The primary objective of the New Jersey City University (NJCU) Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree program is to develop professionals with a strong health and exercise science foundation who are able to gain employment in a variety of exercise science related fields. Besides, the B.S. in Exercise Science will prepare students for advanced professional training and graduate degree programs, such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Athletic Training.

The classroom program is highly interactive, with a low student-to-teacher ratio, and an emphasis on experiential learning

Fire Science, B.S.

Completion of this major prepares one to assume the responsibilities of a firefighter, and ultimately, those of a fire officer.

The requirement for admission to this degree-track is a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0.

Criminal Justice, B.S.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice combines studies in the fields of criminal justice, law enforcement, courts, probation, corrections, parole, and juvenile justice. Computer Science, B.S.

The Computer Science major program consists of 52 credits in Computer Science and 6 credits in Mathematics and Physics. The requirement for admission to this degree track is a minimum grade of C in MATH 165 or MATH 175 or its equivalent. To graduate with the B.S. in Computer Science, a student must maintain a 2.5 minimum average in all courses credited toward the major. For all major courses, including MATH 192 and MATH 193, grade has to be C or above in order to be credited for graduation.

Chemistry, B.S.

Completion of this major program prepares one for a career as a quality control chemist, research chemist, process development chemist, forensic/toxicology scientist, or environmental scientist. Continued study may include a master’s degree and doctorate in such areas of study as chemistry/biochemistry, medicine and/or dentistry, pharmacy/pharmaceutical.

There are no requirements for admission to this degree track, but students are encouraged to begin taking science and math courses as early as possible in their academic careers.

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Dual Degree with New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM), B.S.

Podiatric Medicine specializes in the study and care of the foot, including its anatomy, pathology, and medical and surgical treatment. A student participating in this dual-degree program spends three years at New Jersey City University as Biology major pursuing a B.S. degree. During the third year, the student takes the Medical College Admissions test (MCAT) and applies to New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM). If accepted, the student pursues a doctoral program at the NYCPM. After the successful completion of the first year at NYCPM, New Jersey City University will grant the student
