Two NJCU Students Awarded the Prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Awards, 2020-2021

Two NJCU students, Andrea Fonseca and Hannah Rivera, are part of an elite group of students awarded the highly competitive Fulbright U.S. Student Awards for 2020-2021. These students were selected from over 10,000 applicants from various institutions of higher learning in the United States including ivy-league, private, and state universities as well as liberal arts colleges and research institutions.  

Andrea Fonseca was awarded the Fulbright ETA (English Teaching Assistant) award to Galicia, Spain. She is in the honors program at NJCU and has been on the Dean's list every semester. Andrea is an English major doing a certification in Secondary Education (K-12). She is also a Media Arts major.

Hannah Rivera was awarded the Fulbright ETA (English Teaching Assistant) award to Ecuador. She is an English major doing a certification in Elementary Education (K-6). She has been on the Dean’s list since she joined NJCU.

Established by the United States Congress in 1946, the Fulbright Program is the largest international exchange program in the country, offering opportunities for students, teachers, scholars, and professionals to study, teach, lecture, and conduct research in more than 155 countries worldwide. Sponsored by the United States Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright program selects participants on the basis of academic merit and leadership potential. Professor Irma Maini in the department of English is the Fulbright Program advisor at NJCU.
