New Jersey City University is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus. Part of this commitment involves recognizing that some members of our campus community may prefer to identify by a name other than their legal name.

To that end, New Jersey City University is implementing a Chosen/Preferred Name Policy that allows members of our campus community — students, faculty, staff, and alumni — to use a chosen/preferred name across university systems and documentation, except in instances where the university is required to use an individual’s legal name.

We invite you to learn more about this newly introduced policy. For more information on the policy, and the procedures for requesting to use a chosen/preferred name, please review the policy linked in this communication.

Sincerely,

Ángel González, PhD (he, him, él)
Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer
New Jersey City University
