Academic Affairs Updates: University Advisement Center

Dear NJCU Community,

As a part of our commitment to open and timely communications, we wanted to share an update on leadership changes within the NJCU University Advisement Center (UAC).

Dr. Lorena Laverde, who has served as Director of the UAC since January 2020, has recently resigned from her position. As such, we are reviewing the operational needs of the University Advisement Center and working with human resources to begin an immediate search for the next Director.

Dr. Jonelle Knox, Assistant Provost, is working with the UAC staff and administration to identify an individual(s) who can lead the UAC until a successor is named. We intend to send a separate announcement in the coming weeks to update the college community on temporary leadership for the UAC.

In addition to the search for a new Director, we are actively searching for four (4) new advisors to be added to the UAC team. The Division has formed an academic advisor search committee to streamline this process. Thank you to the members of the college community who have agreed to serve on this committee, and we are hoping they will be able to quickly recommend finalists for consideration.

The Division of Academic Affairs will continue to communicate any changes that occur within the Division. If there are any questions regarding this communication, please feel free to contact Dr. Knox at jknox1@njcu.edu or the Office of the Provost at provost@njcu.edu.

Sincerely,

Donna Adair Breault, Ph.D.
