February 21, 2026
Hepburn Hall in the Snow

Dear Members of the NJCU Community,

Due to a major winter storm expected to impact our region beginning on Sunday and through much of the day on Monday, a state of emergency has been issued by the governor. As a result, please note the status of academic and business operations planned for Monday, February 23, 2026.

The University will be open, but is switching to fully remote learning and work for its main campus and School of Business locations. Nonessential personnel should not report to campus.

This announcement does not apply to weather-essential personnel who should report to work as usual. If you are unsure whether you are considered essential personnel, please check with your manager. For any questions, contact HR@njcu.edu.

Dining services will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shuttle services are expected to run but may be disrupted or unavailable depending on the severity of the storm.

Faculty with in-person classes scheduled for Monday are expected to communicate with their students regarding plans for remote learning.

The NJCU Department of Facilities and Construction Management (FCM) would like to remind all faculty and staff who are on campus this weekend to close the windows in your classrooms and offices prior to leaving campus. If you left your windows open and are not on campus, please call the Department of Public Safety at 201-200-3128 for assistance.
