High Schools and NJCU

Bringing High Schools and NJCU Together for Student Success!

The Dual Enrollment Program at New Jersey City University (NJCU) allows qualified high school students to earn college and high school credits at the same time while still attending high school! Dual Enrollment is a great opportunity for high school students to take challenging courses and accelerate educational opportunities.

Dual Enrollment allows NJCU to form a partnership with local K-12 districts that enables high school students to take college classes at their high school, at NJCU, or online for college credit. The high school student will be awarded both college credits and high school credit for the single course. Students are eligible for Dual Enrollment provided they complete the dual-enrollment application form from NJCU and have approval from their high school and their parent or guardian.

Note: Not all high schools offer the opportunity for students to take Dual Enrollment classes. Students must first check with their high school counselor to determine if a Dual Enrollment class is offered at their school.

What are the advantages of dual-enrollment for a high school student?

  • Transferrable college credits
  • Both high school and college credit for a single course, potentially reducing the time needed to earn a college degree
  • Exposure to college courses while in high school, and thus a better understanding of what is expected in college
  • Improved skills in time management and handling responsibility as well as improved study habits
  • Increased confidence in their ability to handle college
  • Gain an understanding of college culture

NJCU currently has Dual Enrollment agreements in place with the following High Schools and Districts:
