About This Degree

The Master of Arts Degree in Educational Technology with School Library Media Specialist certification program includes the best of both worlds. Students acquire the skills and competencies for the certification that will enable them to develop and coordinate school library media services while learning to apply multimedia to the instructional design process. Successfully completing the completely online 36-credit program leads to a Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology and a New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility for the School Library Media Specialist certification. All coursework is project-based with immediate applicability to real-world practice.  We also offer a 24-credit certificate program to be an NJ Associate School Library Media Specialist. 

Students seeking to ascertain a Master of Arts in Educational Technology with School Library Media Specialist certification must have a 3.0 GPA as an undergraduate or graduate. Individuals must also complete 75 hours in advance field experience to be eligible for the Certificate of Eligibility (CE). Those that already have a teaching certificate qualify for a Certificate of Eligibility of Advanced Standing (CEAS). To receive the Standard Certification, individuals must complete a year-long mentoring residency program in conjunction with a school employer and the State of New Jersey Department of Education.
