Spanish—Teacher Certification, B.A.

Completion of this major prepares you to be a Spanish teacher in elementary, middle, or high school. This degree comprises 36 credits in the subject of Spanish, which fulfills one of the requirements to be certified as a Spanish teacher, and it can also be used to apply to New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey

Spanish, B.A.

Completion of this major prepares you for a career as a Spanish language instructor, translator/interpreter, bilingual assistant in state agencies (embassies and consulates, law enforcement, etc.), and other jobs that require a deep knowledge of both the language and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Continued study may include a master’s degree in Spanish and a certificate, B.A., or master’s degree in translation or in court or medical interpreting.

Media Arts, B.A.

Completion of this major prepares one for a career as a production assistant, research assistant, script advisor, or post-production assistant. Continued study may include a master’s and/or doctoral degree in media studies or a master of fine arts degree in production or film studies.

Mathematics—Teacher Certification, B.A.

Completion of this major program prepares one for a career as a math teacher in elementary, middle, and high schools, in which math is taught as a separate subject. Continued study may include a master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, computer science, environmental science, business administration, or other related fields.

Mathematics, B.A.

Completion of this major prepares one for a career as a statistician, actuarial assistant, mathematics teacher, research assistant, or analyst. Continued study may include a master’s degree in mathematics education, mathematics, computer science, environmental science, business administration, or other related fields.

History—Social Studies (Teacher Certification), B.A.

The requirements for admission to this concentration are:

  • A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0.
  • A minimum of B- or better on all education courses

    Passing scores on the Praxis CORE, or 560 verbal, 540 Math on the SAT, or 23 or higher on the ACT, or 155 verbal, 156 quantitative on the GRE.

History, B.A.

The Bachelor of Arts in History prepares students to become critical thinkers, strong communicators, and informed citizens who add significant value to their workplaces and communities. Our graduates go on to have careers in teaching, journalism, law, public relations, advertising, business, international relations, politics, library science, criminal justice, public history, and consulting. Our faculty is student-centered and passionate about bringing history to life.

Completion of this concentration prepares one for a career as a book editor, copywriter, public relations staffer, paralegal, or personnel staffer. Continued study may include the pursuit of advanced degrees in business administration or public administration, or a master’s and doctorate in communications, English literature, or law.
