English—Creative Writing, B.A.

In the Creative Writing concentration, you'll engage at every level of the creative process, from cultivating ideas and writing drafts to publication and performance. You'll begin with core English courses that hone your reading and writing skills and explore intellectual and cultural issues in classic and contemporary literature from the U.S. and elsewhere. Then, in three creative writing workshops and three craft seminars, you'll learn to create original work in the genre(s) of your choice: poetry, memoir, fiction, playwriting, or creative nonfiction. Chemistry, B.A.

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in chemistry provides a background in chemistry. This program will prepare one for a career in chemical and related industries, forensic and environmental science, and secondary science education. This program is also appropriate for medical, dental, optometric, osteopathic, law, and pharmacy schools.

There are no requirements for admission to this degree track, but students are encouraged to begin taking science and math courses as early as possible in their academic careers.

Biology, B.A.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology provides students with a comprehensive understanding of general biology and prepares them for successful entry to employment, graduate school, or selected professional schools. The Bachelor of Arts in Biology prepares students for careers in academic and industrial research; teaching, through the alternate pathway to certification; and for various careers in the publishing, pharmaceutical, biomedical and biotechnology industries.

Art—B.A. Degree, Specialization in Graphic Arts and Design

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a specialization in Graphic Arts and Design offers a course of study focused on the production of multiples, mass media, graphic design and imaging technology.  Visual problem solving and information literacy are emphasized as students improve their understanding of design. This specialization provides students with a broad range of graphic knowledge, tools and skills that gives them a sense of the integrated complexity of 21st century problems.

Art—B.A. Degree, Specialization in Fine Arts and Crafts

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a specialization in Fine Arts and Crafts is a general program that combines studio art disciplines dealing with the creation and fabrication of unique, hand crafted objects, as well as mixed-media products, and multiples developed through technology. Students interested in a professional degree are advised to consider the BFA program. This specialization provides support for the certification in art education program, arts advocacy and gallery or museum work, or continued studies toward a graduate degree.

Art—B.A. Degree, Specialization in Art Therapy

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a specialization in Art Therapy is an interdisciplinary program that provides students with a broad platform of knowledge in human relations and the expressive arts. Emphasis is placed on encouraging students to identify the origins of human creativity from a historical, physical, and experiential perspective and understand its function within our cognitive culture. This specialization prepares students to go on for a Master’s degree and/or certification and licensed practice in the human relations fields of art therapy, counseling, social work, etc.
