Minor: Finance

Finance plays a critical role in business operations and is an integral part of everyday life. The Minor in Finance offers students the opportunity to develop financial expertise through coursework in business finance, financial markets, and investments.

Forensic Studies, Minor

The Minor in Forensic Studies program will expose students who are interested in forensics to foundational coursework in criminal justice and areas of applied forensic science commonly utilized and applied by individuals working in the professional arenas of national security, law enforcement, professional security, and/or the criminal justice system.  The forensic study areas covered in the program include forensic investigations and crime scene investigation.  The criminal justice areas covered in the program provide an introduction and overview of the criminal justice system and criminal

Professional Financial Planning, Minor

This minor provides a course of study to prepare students for careers as financial advisors to individuals, families, and small businesses. In particular, it follows the prescribed curriculum to meet the education requirement of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards. Students will be trained in the ethical code and professional standards of the financial planning practice, and prepared to counsel clients on all aspects of their financial lives: Investing, taxes, insurance, retirement, and estate planning.

Sexuality and Queer Studies, Minor

The minor in Sexuality and Queer Studies (SQS) centers on the identities and histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender-variant people with a particular focus on urban queer identities. The SQS minor examines how assumptions about sexuality and gender are constructed and emphasizes ways to navigate and resist those assumptions through the application of knowledge in a variety of settings including education, healthcare, the workplace, and community organizations.

Minor: Business Analytics and Data Science

The minor in Business Analytics and Data Science offered by the School of Business will give students in any major the additional data analytics skills that are increasing being demanded by employers in almost every field. It will allow students to better pursue career opportunities in their respective majors and give them a leg up in the job market.

The minor in Business Analytics and Data Science program will consist of four specialization courses (12 credits) and two elective courses (6 credits) for a total of 18 credits.

 

National Security Studies, Minor

The minor in National Security Studies is designed for students who are interested in the historical, political, cultural, ethical, and legal dimensions of national security policy.

Military Science, Minor

This minor will fully meet the Professional Security Studies elective requirements in addition to the ROTC course sequence being a minor in its own right. All students are volunteers and many are current or previous members (Veterans) of the United States Armed Forces.

Public Health Minor

The minor in Public Health provides students with an increased understanding of health issues in the community setting. This minor complements majors in the social sciences and is recommended for those who plan to work in community settings, such as non-profit or voluntary agencies.

Fitness, Exercise and Sports, Minor

The Minor in Fitness, Exercise, and Sports provides students an opportunity to gain specific knowledge pertaining to exercise and sport studies

Fire Science, Minor

A minor In Fire Science is available primarily for those students who do not wish to major in Fire Science, but are interested in intensive study in a professional concentration.
