Criminal Justice, Minor

A minor In Criminal Justice is available primarily for those students who do not wish to major in Criminal Justice, but are interested in intensive study in a professional concentration.

Women’s and Gender Studies, Minor

A minor in women’s and gender studies adds depth and perspective that enhances any program of study. Students hoping to pursue careers in health care, business or education will become better health care workers, managers and teachers with a deeper understanding of how gender influences organizations and people.

Sociology, Minor

A sociology minor is an excellent supplement to any degree program. It is however, particularly relevant for students interested in people-focused careers. Majors in psychology, business, health sciences, nursing, professional security or education may find a deeper understanding of human social lives beneficial to their educational pursuits and careers. Psychology, Minor

A minor in Psychology provides students with exposure to areas that include perception, physiological, cognitive, learning, history and systems, contemporary issues, tests and measurements, developmental, social, personality, abnormal, motivation, psychopathology, and counseling, as well as other areas.

Pre-Law, Minor

A minor in pre-law prepares students to understand the complex issues facing our society today. The knowledge gained through our department’s coursework helps students become better citizens of their communities and future leaders.

Political Science, Minor

A minor in political science prepares students to understand the complex issues facing our society today. The knowledge gained through our department’s coursework helps students become better citizens of their communities and future leaders.

Philosophy, Minor

The minor program in philosophy and religion is designed for students who wish to experience the educational enrichment offered by these disciplines. Philosophy alone, or a minor in combination with religion, may be studied in sufficient depth to enable students to grasp central issues, as well as to confront their own self-awareness in terms of these issues. The minor programs are largely unstructured to allow students to shape their courses of study to their own interests and needs.

Music, Minor

A minor in music provides students the opportunity to explore music through a comprehensive and multifaceted approach while following their various musical interests. The requirements for admission to this minor program track are the passing of an instrumental or vocal audition and the taking of theory, ear-training, and keyboard placement exams.

Spanish, Minor

The Spanish Minor consists of an 18-credit sequence that includes three required courses on composition, culture, and literature, and three elective courses. 

This minor can complement any major concentration offered at NJCU.
