Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies, Minor

Students who minor in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies will learn about the complex geopolitical, economic, social, and environmental realities of the developing countries and territories to the south of the United States, with specific emphasis on the Caribbean region

History, Minor

Are you a good candidate for obtaining a History minor? Ask yourself: Do I crave a deeper understanding of the world I live in? Am I curious about how the past informs the present and the future? Do I want to learn in an environment that sparks thought-provoking discussions?  Our faculty is student-centered and passionate about bringing history to life. Their specialties are as diverse as our student body, and they are sought-after experts in the discipline. They are dedicated to helping students learn, grow, and succeed.

English—Literature, Minor

A minor in English may concentrate in Creative Writing or Literature. Students minor in English by completing 18 credits in English courses numbered 200 or higher. Students pursuing a minor in English must work closely with a faculty advisor to design a coherent program.

A minor in English may concentrate in Creative Writing or Literature. Students minor in English by completing 18 credits (six courses) in English at the 200-400 level. Students pursuing a minor in English must work closely with a faculty advisor to design a coherent program.

Computer Science, Minor

The Computer Science Minor provides an excellent complement of courses for students majoring in the sciences, mathematics, and disciplines that require enhanced computational resources and skills. Courses in Java programming, discrete mathematics, operating systems, and data structures provide a foundation in computer science and computational concepts. Additional courses such as computational methods, telecommunications and networks, and database design provide further study of related subjects.

Computer and Information Systems, Minor

The Computer and Information Systems Minor provides students with the skills necessary to become competent "end users" of computers and applications. Courses in this minor cover business applications, system design and analysis, telecommunications and more. Students in the widest range of majors and disciplines can benefit from the ability to apply the skills gained in this program in most professional environments as well as in personal computer use.

Chemistry, Minor

A minor in Chemistry provides students an opportunity to obtain a strong, distributed background in the discipline. This minor is beneficial for students pursuing careers in medicine, health professions, biological or environmental sciences, business, law, education, or any career in requiring a basic understanding of the molecular sciences.

Biology, Minor

The minor in Biology provides students with a basic understanding of general biology to supplement a student’s major in another discipline. Through consultation with a faculty advisor, students may select elective courses that focus on cell and molecular biology, biomedical sciences, organismal biology, or environmental studies. The Minor curriculum also includes a basic background in Chemistry. The Minor in Biology prepares students for careers in academic and industrial research; teaching, through the alternate pathway to certification; and for various careers in the publishing

African & African-American Studies, Minor

Students focused on any of the University’s majors are welcomed. The African & African-American Studies minor is particularly complementary for liberal arts majors (Political Science, History, Sociology, English Literature and Economics) and students who are considering careers in journalism, education, criminal justice, politics, law, business and diplomacy and many other fields of endeavor.
