In the Heights

The Music, Dance and Theatre Department at NJCU, under the creative umbrella of the Center for the Arts, presented a main stage production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first Tony Award-winning musical, In the Heights. The musical launched the career of composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who went on to make his name with Hamilton on Broadway. The tuneful score, spiked with Latin hip hop and dance rhythms, created a panoramic mural of Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, while telling an authentic story of hope, change, and self-discovery.
