Dear NJCU Community,

New Jersey City University condemns the recent vile and reprehensible acts against Asian Americans and the Asian community. Research by Stop AAPI Hate reveals nearly 3,800 incidents have been reported over the last year during the pandemic — a significant increase from the year prior.

Hate and bias-related crimes have no place in our community, and any attack on Asians or Asian-Americans is an attack on all Americans. NJCU stands in solidarity with the Asian community — its students, faculty, staff, and alumni — and the wider Asian community, including our proud international partners through the Office of Global Initiatives.

Our institution has long recognized that our strength lies in our diversity. We are at our strongest when diverse perspectives and voices are shared and the inherent worth and dignity of every person is celebrated. We are proud of the contributions of the Asian-American and Asian members of our campus community.

In these challenging times, we urge our community to treat each other with kindness and respect, and denounce all acts of hatred.
