On December 10th, we hosted our NJCU Alumni Association Holiday Paint and Sip, bringing together alumni from the Class of 1971 through the Class of 2025. It was wonderful to see so many generations come together to celebrate.
On December 5th, we partnered with the NJCU Lemmerman Gallery @njcugalleries and JCFridays to host Urban Reflections: An Illustrated Love Letter to My Hometown, Jersey City, N.J.
A lifelong Jersey City resident and 1978 graduate of New Jersey City University (then Jersey City State College) with a B.A. in Art, Richard La Rovere has spent decades documenting the region's evolving urban landscape, offering a remarkable and heartfelt collection of portraits of life in Jersey City.
With over 650 extraordinary illustrations celebrating our neighborhoods, landmarks, and the people who give this city its character, the exhibition also underscored the lasting impact of NJCU alumni on New Jersey's cultural landscape. Through their dedication, creativity, and community engagement, alumni like La Rovere continue to enrich Jersey City's vibrant artistic legacy. The event highlighted not only La Rovere's talent but also the strength of the Jersey City arts scene and the unwavering community support that makes moments like this possible. The book is set to be released in 2026.
