NJCU Appoints Michael Edmondson Dean of Professional Education and Lifelong Learning

New Jersey City University (NJCU) announces the appointment of Michael Edmondson, Ph.D. as Dean of Professional Education and Lifelong Learning following a national search.

Dr. Edmondson, who began his tenure at NJCU on April 2, had previously served as the Director of Continuing Education at Mercer County Community College and Associate Vice President for Career Development at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.

Dr. Edmondson received a B.A. in history from Cabrini College, an M.A. in history from Villanova University and a Ph.D. in history from Temple University.

Business Experts Press has published three professional development books for Dr. Edmondson: Marketing Your Value: 9 Steps to Navigating Your Career; Major in Happiness: Debunking the College Major Fallacies; and Success: Theory and Practice.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, P.A., Dr. Edmondson is also a certified yoga teacher and practices Ashtanga yoga. He lives in Mt. Laurel, N.J. with his wife Lori and their son Jonathan.

The Professional Education and Lifelong Learning Division provides quality and innovative, learning and professional development opportunities to the region’s diverse population by extending New Jersey City University's educational resources. Working in conjunction with NJCU schools and colleges, the Division serves degree and non-degree students with a wide variety of credit and noncredit programs that are offered both on and off campus; using traditional classroom and technology-enhanced delivery systems.

“In today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous global marketplace, professionals at every level need to continually develop their skill set to remain competitive. Earning a certificate, completing a program, or enrolling in a class to further develop your professional development remains a critical aspect of work in the 21st Century,” Dr. Edmondson noted.
