Kean Merger - Accreditation
Accreditation Announcement from NJCU School of Business Interim Dean, J.D Jayaraman
Dear Student,
As part of the planned merger between Kean University (Kean) and New Jersey City University (NJCU), we are writing to provide an important update regarding the future accreditation status of our business programs.
Currently, a portion of the business programs at NJCU are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Upon completion of the merger, these programs will transition into the business school structure of Kean, which holds accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Accreditation | AACSB.
As part of this transition, the ACBSP accreditation currently associated with NJCU will not continue after the merger is finalized. Instead, Kean will work through the formal AACSB processes required to incorporate the adopted business programs into its existing AACSB-accredited business school framework.
We want to reassure students that the merger and the associated accreditation changes will not interrupt your ability to progress toward degree completion.
AACSB accreditation is internationally recognized as a leading standard of excellence in business education, and both institutions are committed to ensuring a smooth transition that supports academic quality and student success.
We understand that accreditation changes may raise questions, and we are committed to keeping students informed throughout this process. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at jjayaraman@njcu.edu.
Thank you for your continued patience and partnership during this important transition.
Sincerely,
J.D Jayaraman, Interim Dean
