How To Apply to OSP/EOF

The number of students the EOF program at NJCU can admit is limited and based on the availability of funds; therefore, cohort sizes will vary from semester to semester. To increase the chances of becoming an EOF scholar, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit required documents as early as possible. Priority will be given in the following order after accounting for all currently enrolled program students.

Students who are enrolling in college for the first time are considered prospective freshmen.

The Admissions team reviews completed applications and refers those who are New Jersey residents with a demonstrated need for additional academic preparedness to OSP/EOF for consideration.

To be considered for EOF, known as the Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP), at NJCU, students must:

  1. Be a first-time college student and apply to NJCU via the Common App. (Please note NJCU does not have a separate application for EOF.)
  2. File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or NJ Alternate Application for Financial Aid
  3. Complete the OSP/EOF Preliminary Screening Survey.
  4. Meet the financial eligibility income and assets guidelines set forth by the State of NJ.
  5. Gather all identification and income verification documents listed on the document checklist.
  6. Submit all required identification and income verification documents via Mapping Xpress. Instructions will be forwarded to applicants upon completion of the preliminary screening survey.

Please note that indicating your interest in OSP/EOF does not solely determine your eligibility for the program.

To be granted an interview for admission to the OSP/EOF program, eligible students must::

  1. Be accepted to NJCU
  2. Submit a completed OSP/EOF application and be sure to mark the applicant type as “EOF Transfer.”

To receive the EOF grant, EOF transfer students must continue to meet EOF eligibility criteria. However, EOF transfer students who are accepted remain eligible for OSP/EOF support services regardless of their grant status.

Transfer students who never received an EOF grant at previous institutions or students currently enrolled at NJCU with no previous history of OSP or EOF, who come from backgrounds of limited financial resources and academic preparedness, could be considered for admission to OSP/EOF.

To be granted an interview for admission to the OSP/EOF program, eligible students must:

  1. Be accepted to NJCU as a non-EOF transfer student or be currently enrolled at NJCU with no previous history of EOF at NJCU;

  2. Meet the financial eligibility income and assets guidelines set forth by the State of NJ;

  3. Submit a completed OSP/EOF application; and be sure to mark the applicant type as “Non-EOF Transfer.”

Students who were previously enrolled in OSP/EOF at NJCU and would like to re-engage after a minimum of one semester of being away from OSP/EOF and/or NJCU are considered re-admit students.

To be considered as a re-admit student in the program, students must:

  1. Have a cumulative GPA of a 2.0 or prior semester GPA of a 2.25;

  2. Submit a completed OSP/EOF application; and be sure to mark the applicant type as “Re-Admit.”

To receive the EOF grant, re-admit students must continue to meet EOF eligibility criteria. However, all re-admit students who are accepted remain eligible for OSP/EOF support services regardless of their grant status.
