Welcome to our website, and thank you for your interest in our program. Since its 2013 relaunch, NJCU Honors has expanded to include more than fifty students per cohort, a rich array of programming including study abroad, and a diversity of challenging courses. Our program cultivates leadership, skill-building, and personal growth among students. If you are a high-achieving and motivated high school student, we would love to have you join us.
Who are NJCU’s Honors students? Like Jersey City, which NJCU calls home, they are impressively diverse. We enroll students of myriad ethnicities, backgrounds, faiths, and gender identities, from NJ and beyond. We have students who are the first in their families to go to college, first or second-generation immigrants, and others whose families have been in NJ or nearby states for generations. Many of our Honors graduates have gone on to medical school, law school, graduate study, jobs in international business, teaching positions, and more. Our faculty believe that the future is full of possibility, and we use the Honors Program to challenge students and propel them to a brighter future.
Personally, I am grateful to have had a top-notch undergraduate experience, one in which my professors mentored me, guided my research, and were very available to me. This is why I champion a challenging, rewarding undergraduate education in my work as an educator. It is my privilege to serve as Honors Director and I look forward to hearing from you so I can tell you more about this fantastic program.
