The NJCU Health & Wellness Center (H&WC) is an outpatient facility providing confidential health care services for our students. The University Physician is available part-time during the Fall and Spring Semesters. A monthly physician’s schedule is available at the H&WC.
The medical records and health care transactions of all patients are maintained in a confidential manner and cannot be released to another party without the patient's written consent or by subpoena.
Extended absences from class should be reported as soon as possible to the Office of the Dean of Students at 201-200-3525.
NJCU has partnered with Diligent Urgent care to provide COVID screenings, testing, and education for our NJCU campus. Diligent Urgent Care has been actively managing and treating COVID-19 patients since the onset of the pandemic.

All NJCU students MUST submit a completed Entrance Health Record form to the H&WC. This information is utilized to establish a student's medical file and document compliance with state immunization laws. New Jersey State Law requires all students, both undergraduate and graduate, comply with current immunization regulations by submitting proof of immunization, immunity, or filing for a valid exemption for the required vaccines. Detailed information about the required immunizations or valid exemptions can be found on the Entrance Health Record form. Failure to comply will result in a hold being placed on all future registration for classes.
New Jersey City University offers a Student Health Insurance plan through the Aetna Insurance Company. The Affordable Care Act, a Federal regulation that took effect on January 1, 2014, requires that all individuals must have health care insurance coverage or be subject to a penalty. Learn more.
All new students who plan to live in campus housing must present documented proof of one adult dose of the currently recommended Meningitis (Menactra/Menveo) vaccination given within the last 5 years as a condition of residence at NJCU. Students who fail to submit this information will not be permitted to move into campus residential facilities until this is completed.
The State of New Jersey requires that all new students be provided with information about Meningitis and will be required to provide proof of Meningococcal B vaccination. Each new student will complete a survey indicating whether or not they plan to receive the vaccination. Meningitis information and the survey is located on the NJCU Entrance Health Record.
