Center for Community Engagement
The Center for Community Engagement creates and fosters a commitment to lifelong service within the NJCU community by encouraging students, faculty, and staff to engage in meaningful service projects that make a positive impact in communities of limited means in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, the United States, and the world. The Center is sponsored by the NJCU Community Center.
Although the primary goal of community service is to serve others, participants benefit from making a difference and helping others in many other ways. Among other benefits, participants often: increase their sense of civic responsibility as well as academic self-confidence; earn higher grades and academic credit; develop leadership, and expand their perspectives by working with and learning from people of different races, cultures, ages, and life experiences

Food Pantry
At NJCU, we hear you and we’re here to help. We’re here to help you graduate and create outstanding campus community. We want you to be fed. We’ve created the Gothic Knight Food Pantry (GKFP) to address food insecurity. Food insecurity has increasingly become an issue on college and university campuses and can pose a significant barrier to student success.
Many students come to campus with limited resources and little experience managing their needs. Hunger makes it difficult to study, sleep, or engage in academics and social activities at the same level as peers. If our students' physiological needs aren't being met, it ultimately decreases the chances of meeting their full potential and their overall experience at New Jersey City University.
